Good afternoon,

Per the Penn*Link that was sent this morning (see below), the PA Planning Team wanted to follow up to clarify a few points.

All LEAs (all phases) will have a one-year extension in submitting their Comprehensive Plan.

*For any Phase 2 that submitted their Comprehensive Plan on or before November 30, 2016, the PA Planning Team will be setting those plans back into “Planning” mode to allow schools the time to continue planning and revising as necessary.  Phase 2 Comprehensive Plans will now be due on or before November 30, 2017.  Schools may not have too many changes to be made to their goals and strategies within their plans (depending upon data analysis), but please be sure to adjust timelines within the Implementation Step area.  Your local IU Comprehensive Planning contact will be providing additional support and reminders regarding this.

*New Due Dates for Comprehensive Plans:

(Phase List: http://tinyurl.com/jg387wz

·      Phase 1: November 30, 2019

·      Phase 2: November 30, 2017

*This one-year extension will include Special Education Plans since they are a part of the Comprehensive Plan. New Due Dates for Special Education Plans are as follows:

·      Phase 1: May 1, 2019

·      Phase 2: May 1, 2020

·      Phase 3: May 1, 2018

As always, please feel free to contact our support team if you have any questions.

Thank you!

Re:     Act 118 of 2016: Extension for Professional Education Plans Update

Dear Partner in Education:

Act 118 of 2016 amended the Public School Code to provide each school entity with one additional year to submit to the Secretary the three-year professional education plan as required under 24 P.S. § 12 1205.1(a).  In order to support the integrity of the comprehensive planning process, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) will apply the one year extension to all plans currently required to be submitted to PDE as part of the Comprehensive Plan.

PDE is working with the Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU 15) to disseminate additional information to LEAs regarding the specifics of this extension as it applies to each plan, and will post this information on the Act 48 and PERMS website in the near future. Please visit the Act 48 and PERMS website for more information as we provide updates.
